Things to do in Fort Lauderdale's FATVillage
April 24, 2018
Have you been to Fort Lauderdale's FATVillage? It's so much fun! I've lived in Florida for 24 years now, half my life! When I moved to Miami Beach it was the late 90's and I didn't own a car. I didn't need one. I just rollerbladed to work. Ahhhhh, to be young and free again. I moved more north when the Miami Design District started to pop up. I made it to Fort Lauderdale a handful of times. But I recently went to go see FATVillage. I had heard about it, that it was a cool art district where there were fantastic restaurants and coffee shops. I hopped in my ride for the week, the 2018 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport and I headed to Henry's Sandwich Station. I really enjoyed the …

A Day at Butterfly World in Coconut Creek
April 17, 2018
We went to Butterfly World in years ago. My first son (Thing 1) and I spent a lot of time there. It's such a peaceful, pretty place to explore. We went there about once a week for a while and would take our lunch and meet other mommies there too. It's worth it to get an annual pass if you want to go more than once a year. There's also a park right next to it that's fun for the kids after they are done at Butterfly World. We purchased the native pupae at Butterfly World in the gift shop. We waited for the transformation at home. I wanted to take my second son (Thing 2) so he could see what we saw years ago. He's learning about …

A Day at Morikami Museum and Japanese Gardens

I've never been to Morikami Museum and Japanese Gardens but I have heard so many great things about it. Mostly, about the beauty of the gardens. So, when I took my son, I wasn't surprised at the magnitude of beauty that was there. But I was surprised at my lack of knowledge about the history of Morikami Museum and Japanese Gardens coming to be. It's quite interesting! Driving up Yamato Road, I never thought too much about this street. I never knew that there was once a Yamato Colony; Japanese farmers living in present-day northern Boca Raton. While the pioneering community of Japanese settlers is no longer here in Boca Raton because they were dispersed during World War II. Yamato’s name (an ancient name for Japan) lives …

Things to do at the Museum of Discovery and Science
April 10, 2017
If your looking for educational fun for the kids, you can find lots of things to do at the Museum of Discovery and Science. My two boys are very active. If they weren't I might worry. But they cannot sit still. They feed off each other's energy. They are inseparable. However, boredom makes them fight. So, we are always looking for new things to do, especially educational things. We were looking for things to do on Spring Break last week and we came across the Museum of Discovery and Science in Fort Lauderdale. It is one of the largest and busiest museums of its kind in Florida. The museum features its own AutoNation IMAX theater, and shows 3-D IMAX films in which viewers wear special glasses …
