How to take a Solo Vacation Guilt Free
February 15, 2019

How many times do people tell us moms to take a vacation solo? "You need to get away", they say, "have some time to yourself, without the kids." Well, it's easy for them to say but not so easy to do.  So, when I had the opportunity to take a vacation by myself, at first I said yes right away.  But then a little mom-guilt set in.  My boys were asking why they couldn't go.  I had just come back from a press trip to Costa Rica.  I had mom-guilt all the way! We do go on a lot of family trips, like the one where we stayed at the Wyndham Sedona. We go to Disney, Universal and Legoland and so many family friendly places. It …

A Staycation at the Wyndham Deerfield Beach Resort
June 28, 2018

We had about three days before we were heading out of Florida.  Florida, my home for the last 24 years was now in the distant past as we were getting ready for a new chapter in our lives in Phoenix, Arizona. I lived in Phoenix once upon a time.  But I "grew up" in Florida.  First Miami Beach, then Midtown, North Miami, Parkland, and finally Deerfield Beach. What better way to start our journey than a staycation!  With all the prepping for the big move, the kids getting out of school, packing, etc., we really needed it.  Who can say no to 33 steps from the beach? When looking for a family friendly hotel to stay in Deerfield Beach, we always consider the location, the room size, parking …

Hitting up Fort Lauderdale's FATVillage in the New 2018 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport
April 24, 2018

I've lived in Florida for 24 years now, half my life!  When I moved to Miami Beach it was the late 90's and I didn't own a car.  I didn't need one. I just rollerbladed to work.  Ahhhhh, to be young and free again. I moved more north when the Miami Design District started to pop up.   I made it to Fort Lauderdale a handful of times.  But I recently went to go see FATVillage.  I had heard about it, that it was a cool art district where there were fantastic restaurants and coffee shops. I hopped in my ride for the week, the 2018 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport and I headed to Henry's Sandwich Station. I really enjoyed the Mitsubishi Outlander Sport. It’s so different from my daily driver …

A Day at Butterfly World
April 17, 2018

We went to Butterfly World years ago. My first son (Thing 1) and I spent a lot of time there.  It's such a peaceful, pretty place to explore. We went there about once a week for a while and would take our lunch and meet other mommies there too.  It's worth it to get an annual pass if you want to go more than once a year. There's also a park right next to it that's fun for the kids after they are done at  Butterfly World. We purchased the native pupae at Butterfly World in the gift shop.  We waited for the transformation at home. I wanted to take my second son (Thing 2) so he could see what we saw years ago.  He's learning about butterflies …

A Day at Morikami Museum and Japanese Gardens
April 10, 2018

I've never been to Morikami Museum and Japanese Gardens but I have heard so many great things about it. Mostly, about the beauty of the gardens.  So, when I took my son, I wasn't surprised at the magnitude of beauty that was there. But I was surprised at my lack of knowledge about the history of Morikami Museum and Japanese Gardens coming to be.  It's quite interesting! Driving up Yamato Road, I never thought too much about this street.  I never knew that there was once a Yamato Colony;  Japanese farmers living in present-day northern Boca Raton.  While the pioneering community of Japanese settlers is no longer here in Boca Raton because they were dispersed during World War II. Yamato’s name (an ancient name for Japan) lives …

Taking on CityPlace in the New Mazda3 Grand Touring 4-Door
March 22, 2018

My mom came into town and when she comes into town... we shop.  And we don't just shop.  We shop until we drop.  So, I wanted to take her to a place that we've only been to once together, CityPlace in West Palm Beach. Since then, some new restaurants have popped up and the scenery has changed. We hopped into the NEW Mazda3 Grand Touring 4-door.  It was a treat from driving the SUV I'm always driving with the kids.  This car was fast and so fun to drive. I wouldn't use it as a family car, but my kids did like being in it.  It was my "get away" car.  By "get away," I mean get away from the day-to-day grind.  It was like a mini …

Living in a Hotel While Escaping Hurricane Irma
September 15, 2017

We went through so many emotions when we found out about Hurricane Irma. We couldn't be prepared for what was about to happen. Even after being through Charley, Katrina and Wilma.   All we could do is put one foot in front of the other.   As soon as I saw on the news that there was a Hurricane forming and its path was possibly Florida, the first thing I did was fill up my tank and get water.  At that point,  everyone was watching the destruction that Hurricane Harvey just unleashed on Texas so we were all hyper-aware I guess. A couple days later it was going to be a Category 5 Hurricane and we were told to leave asap.  So, we booked a room and my …

Why We Stayed at LEGOLAND® Water Park for the Whole Day
July 17, 2017

We recently went back to Legoland for my son's 6th Birthday.  We stayed at the Legoland Hotel which is always so much fun.  This time he brought his best friend, Aaron.  It was his first road trip with a friend.  Usually, we go as a family with his brother, so this was extra special.  He felt really grown up. Right away they went straight to the treasure hunt in the room where they found the first of many future LEGO sets to build. The boys had so much fun in the room getting rowdy in the bunk bed!  We didn't get much sleep, between the giggling and excitement for the next day. Then we hit the pajama party and Master Model Builder Sessions where they built a plane. I …

Play and Stay at LEGOLAND® Beach Retreat Now Open!
June 8, 2017

The much-anticipated Beach Retreat is now open.  We counted the days until getting to preview this beachtastic retreat.  The anticipation built up with just the word "Beach."  I thought, how could it possibly be a retreat when I'm bringing the kids? haha.  But they did it!  It is absolutely a retreat. Just the drive-through experience sets the ambiance for a retreat theme by not having the hustle and bustle of lobby check in.  Although, I like a little hustle and bustle, but after driving with a three-year-old and five-year-old boys for three and a half hours, I'd say the drive-through was the perfect alternative to lobby check in.  We had no time for chit-chat. This village-style vacation resort features brightly colored bungalows that look like they were …

Get to the Museum of Discovery and Science for Spring Break!
April 10, 2017

My two boys are very active.   If they weren't I might worry.  But they cannot sit still.  They feed off each other's energy.  They are inseparable.  However, boredom makes them fight.  So, we are always looking for new things to do, especially educational things. We were looking for things to do on Spring Break last week and we came across the Museum of Discovery and Science in Fort Lauderdale. It is one of the largest and busiest museums of its kind in Florida. The museum features its own AutoNation IMAX theater, and shows 3-D IMAX films in which viewers wear special glasses and headsets. The museum also features a number of "ecoscapes", as well as a simulated ride to Mars, a simulated airboat ride in the …

Ninjago World Opens in Legoland Florida!
January 29, 2017

8 Ways to Get the Most Out of One Day in LEGOLAND Florida
December 18, 2016

It was our first time going to LEGOLAND Florida and we only had one day as we were also heading to other theme parks and were packing everything into one long weekend!  I had heard a lot about what to expect, so when I got there I thought I was prepared. But nothing can prepare you for this Lego wonderland.  It is a Lego lover's dream! If you haven't experienced anything Lego, you are about to get your socks knocked off!  My kids were in heaven. So we had to have a plan on what to pack in one day. They have an awesome water park but it was closed on the day we went, which was good in a way because we wouldn't have had time to truly …

4 Reasons to Visit the BOATHOUSE® in Disney Springs.™
November 16, 2016

We are the typical Florida family who likes to frequent the theme parks at least once a year.  But we have requirements for ourselves too.  It's not all about the kids as this trip is an escape from our busy lives also. We always stay close to Disney Springs™ to have access to it whenever we want.  In the last year, they have made some major renovations which gives us even more reason to visit! One of the things we enjoy the most when visiting Disney Springs™ is discovering restaurants. We found one that blew us away and have made it our number one priority to visit every time we go to Disney Springs.™  There are four reasons for this: 1. Location Location is everything to us and we absolutely …

6 Reasons to Stay at Wyndham Lake Buena Vista Disney Springs™ Resort Area
November 2, 2016

When we were looking for hotels in Orlando, we weren't too fussy about where to stay but we did have some standards, especially since we were traveling with two kids under the age of five.   We didn't need luxury, per se, because the kids wouldn't appreciate it, but we did have specific needs that people without kids might not consider. So we researched the best hotels next to Disney Springs. This was a good starting point since we knew we would be spending time at Disney Springs. When we checked into the Wyndham Lake Buena Vista Disney Springs™ Hotel, we knew that it had gone under major renovations. I knew that it was now two hotels but I didn't have anything to compare it …

Everglades Holiday Park
August 2, 2016

Living in Florida for twenty years, you'd think I would have seen an alligator by now, but no, I haven't and neither has my family.  So we were excited to go to Everglades Holiday Park and check out the gators!  Plus, it is home to the to the Gator Boys Alligator Rescue, featured on Animal Planet's hit show. We went there on a Sunday morning and picked up our tickets for the AirBoat Tour.  It was just a few minutes until they called our number and we walked down to the port where the boats are waiting for us.  The tour boats depart every twenty minutes so you don't get stuck standing out in the heat for long. Before we stepped on the boat, we had our free …

Disney, Diets, and Drama
November 21, 2015

I had planned for this trip for months.  I was so excited to get Media Passes and use this perk for my blog.  MONTHS! I tell you!  MONTHS! There has to be a guide or user manual for planning the actual planning for your Disney Trip, right?  I read about the apps, the wait times, the restaurants, the parades, the hotels, but somehow I think I should of had a plan for the plan.  Because the plan kinda, sorta, fell through.     We made it in one piece.  No body was injured.  There were no broken bones.  No fights over music selection and only one stop in four hours.   We had a bathroom stop and were able to avoid the 50 fast food restaurants inside along with …

Traveling with a Baby and a toddler both in diapers! MY PLAN.
December 17, 2014

The anxiety is starting to creep in.  In one week I will be traveling with a three year old and a baby.  Oh yeah, and my nine month old.  So my husband seems to think we are taking one suitcase for the three of us.  I'm wondering if he's going naked and leaving the kids at security.  We are also taking presents and warm clothes.  We were going to take two strollers along with a car base and seat.  Again, I must of thought our imaginary assistants where going to help us push them, along with the suitcase, three carry-ons and hold my three year old who insists on being held and hates the stroller (unless, of course his brother wants to be in it). …
