It’s that time of year again, and us parents have the fun task of going over lists for Santa. I’m ready for my Toy Holiday Gift Guide for 2018. But before I put it together, I have my boys circle what they want in a catalog and then I usually get one item off the list. I’ve been doing this for years, so there are no expectations. I don’t want them to be spoiled either. Although my youngest pointed out to me this year that last year he wasn’t a good listener and yet Santa still brought him toys. Kids say the craziest things!
This year, I’m focusing on stem toys that encourage kids to develop skills in the core disciplines of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics and I’m also focusing on outdoor toys. They love sitting and building and creating but they also love playing outdoors.
We’ve always been fans of Plus-Plus and have purchased the small tubes for road trips and used them for stocking stuffers. The first time my kids tried Plus-Plus was when I gave them a basic Plus-Plus tube in their stockings. After that, we moved on to bigger sets, where they could really use their imagination and use directions to build specific things like animals and people.
Plus-plus offers sets for ages 1-12. For the Holidays we got their new Mega Makers. They loved the Mega Maker Elf and are getting the Mega Maker Super Hero for Christmas. The Mega Makers are great for all ages but especially perfect for ages 5+ which works when you have a 4 year-old and a 7 year-old.
Check out my son building the new Mega Elf Plus-Plus.
Scooters are awesome for all ages and get the kids outdoors and doing some exercise while they are zooming along! This Aero Scooter is perfect for my 4 year-old AND my 7 year-old. The Aero Scooter is a 2 wheel scooter with light up wheels and a rear break. It’s durable and easy to ride with a full steel frame and steel supported composite deck.
Don’t forget your Junior Helmet.
The handlebars are adjustable for small and larger children and feature custom Flybar hand grips that are comfortable and safe when riding. It also has two adjustable height settings. Check it out on Amazon and use CODE FlybarHol15 for 15% off your order.
The Flybar beginner skateboard skateboards are made from quality and durable maple wood. They have 5″ aluminum trucks are durable, adjustable and lightweight. The wheels are made of a smooth and durable polyurethane so they are durable. This skateboard is a great trick board!
Don’t forget the Flyscraper Helmet!
These magnetic foam shapes are great for gross motor skills, hand-eye coordination and logic and reasoning.
My boys love OOLY. OOLY has so many fantastic products for them to create fun projects, like Rock Painting. This year we had a pine cone painting party using Poster Paint Pods, Brush Works Paintbrush Set, Dot-A-Lot Dimensional Craft Paints, and Pixie Paste Brush-On Glitter Glue. It was a blast!
We are still not done!
My boys tried Magformers for the first time a few months ago and they loved them! They tried the Sky Track Play set and were hooked (literally). The Magformers Creator Carnival Set includes fun accessories for building a number of carnival rides. So fun! It is a 46 piece set with 24 squares, 12 triangles, 2 hexagons, and 8 accessories. I love that they are compatible with all Magformers shapes and accessories so you can mix and match too. Whatever the set is, your kids will love them. Check out the Magformers.com and they are also available on Amazon.
There are so many kid’s subscription boxes out there, and most of them are great but sometimes they are a little too complex or have too many steps. Kids basically like simple instructions and snacks (and both at the same time). Zonkdbox is perfect for them!
Zonked Sibling is also available! Perfect for my boys.
Whether you’re looking for outdoor toys or something for stem toys, these are fantastic items to choose from. Which items do you think your kids would love from this toy holiday gift guide? Do share!
