I stayed at The Diplomat Beach Resort Hollywood, Curio Collection by Hilton in Broward County while in Florida for a cruise to the Bahamas. This gorgeous beachfront resort is in Hollywood (Just South of Ft. Lauderdale). It is 20 minutes from the Fort Lauderdale International Airport, 30 minutes from Miami International Airport, and 30 Minutes to the Port of Miami.

If you are stopping through, like I was, I highly recommend staying at this one of a kind, luxury Beach Resort, where you can relax in a cabana on your own private beach, and enjoy white sand between your toes while staring out to the magnificent, turquoise sea; the Atlantic Ocean.

The History of the Diplomat Beach Resort  Hollywood

In 1958, Supermarket tycoon, Samuel Friedmand opened The Diplomat Hotel/Motel with 150-rooms as “The Envoy.” It was later named “The Diplomat.” after adding 350 rooms.

Before this iconic Hotel was demolished in 1998, to make way for the new Diplomat Resort and Spa, it hosted many celebrities like the Rat Pak (Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Sammy Davis Jr., etc), Bing Cosby, Bob Hope, and many elected Presidents.

The Westin Diplomat Resort and Spa completed construction and officially re-opened in 2002 after a series of fires, with 998 rooms – the tallest beach resort in Greater Fort Lauderdale, and at that time the highest valued building in Greater Fort Lauderdale, worth est. $1 Billion. But in 2014, it became branded the hotel under the Curio franchise.

It was renovated in 2018 ($100 million transformation) and is presently the tallest beachfront hotel in the greater Fort Lauderdale area. It quickly closed for 14 months in March 2020, and reopened recently, preserving the 2018-completed renovations during its closure so it could re-open as a still-refreshed and brand new looking resort.

It also has an executive lounge space on the 33rd floor, which serves as the highest-elevation private event space and Oceanfront / Intracoastal rooftop terrace in Greater Fort Lauderdale.

Location is Everything

Hollywood has more than 60 parks, seven golf courses, seven miles of pristine beaches, and the unique Hollywood Beach Boardwalk.

This AAA Four-Diamond resort was voted one of the Top 10 Meeting Hotels in the U.S. by Cvent. It is ideally located between the two Florida hot spots: Fort Lauderdale and Miami.
