Remember Toy Story? Did you ever think we would see the mysterious Emperor Zurg again? I definitely didn’t — until we watched Lightyear! It was so fun seeing Buzz Lightyear’s origin story finally come to life on the big screen.
A Funny Buzz Lightyear Story
Years ago, my younger son wanted a giant Zurg robot for his birthday. I thought it was the ugliest toy ever and probably not the best choice for a four-year-old, but his grandparents bought it for him anyway. He was thrilled!
A couple of years later, he completely lost interest in it, and I happily tossed it in the trash.
Then Lightyear came out… and thankfully he didn’t remember!
About the Buzz Lightyear Movie
Lightyear is a computer-animated sci-fi adventure that tells the story of Buzz Lightyear, the space ranger hero who inspired the iconic Toy Story toy. Buzz becomes stranded on a hostile planet 4.2 million light-years from Earth along with his commander and crew after their spaceship crashes.
The film was produced by Pixar Animation Studios and distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures. It was directed by Angus MacLane and produced by Galyn Susman.
The Voices of Lightyear
Chris Evans voices the heroic Buzz Lightyear, while James Brolin voices the villainous Emperor Zurg.

The Story of Lightyear
The story follows Buzz as he tries to find his way home through space and time. Along the way, he teams up with a group of ambitious recruits — Izzy Hawthorne, Darby Steel, and Mo — along with Sox, his adorable robotic cat companion.
Meanwhile, Emperor Zurg and an army of ruthless robots threaten the mission and complicate Buzz’s journey.
It’s a fun and exciting addition to the Toy Story universe that fans of Buzz Lightyear are sure to enjoy!
