Play and Stay at LEGOLAND® Beach Retreat Now Open!
Blog - June 8, 2017

The much-anticipated Beach Retreat is now open.  We counted the days until getting to preview this beachtastic retreat.  The anticipation built up with just the word “Beach.”  I thought, how could it possibly be a retreat when I’m bringing the kids? haha.  But they did it!  It is absolutely a retreat.

Just the drive-through experience sets the ambiance for a retreat theme by not having the hustle and bustle of lobby check in.  Although, I like a little hustle and bustle, but after driving with a three-year-old and five-year-old boys for three and a half hours, I’d say the drive-through was the perfect alternative to lobby check in.  We had no time for chit-chat.

This village-style vacation resort features brightly colored bungalows that look like they were built with LEGO sets.  They are grouped into 13 horseshoe-shaped “coves” named after popular LEGO Minifigures.

The spacious room features a private area for the kids (or other travelers) with a bunk bed and trundle.  The privacy curtain is a bonus for the kids.   They can feel like they have their own space and give mommy and daddy some peace and quiet (eh hem…alone time).

First things first.  Shoes off, play with LEGOS.

Surfs up dude!

My favorite part of the bungalow is the cute outside shaded patio where you can just sit and relax, have a drink and/or read a book while the kids play at the playground.

Each cove has its own playground.

You can walk over to the giant swimming pool next to The Lighthouse, sit and relax while the kids play and order food and drinks from the Bricks Beach Bar.

There are a variety of activities like dance parties, bean bag toss, hula hoop contests, beach volleyball, Red Light Green Light, Hot Potato, chalk art competitions, sandcastle build, show-and-tell, and “Master Builder” competitions with large LEGO soft bricks.  Trust me, the kids will be busy.  You can grab a Gourmet Ice Pop to cool off from all the excitement from the pool bar. We had a cart for the grand opening as a special treat!

Sit and relax and have a drink at the Bricks Beach Bar. You can try one of their specialty cocktails, like the Fish in A Bag.  It has Malibu, Sprite, Pinnacle Orange Vodka, orange peel and mint.

Or go for a glass of wine…

There are also tables set up by the bar if you need to get your laptop out and work while the kids play.  I know that sounds absurd but this is the age we live in.

The kids can play at the giant sandcastle made from thousands of LEGO bricks.

Your room includes a delicious buffet breakfast. There are fabulous servers to help you with whatever you need.  My server, Julia went above and beyond even keeping an eye on Ollie while I went back to the buffet; even sitting with him while he was drawing.  For that morning, she became part of our family.   They offer everything from pancakes to biscuits and grits, bacon, eggs, and much more savory choices. And to balance it out, you also have all the necessities like cereal, granola, chocolate milk, and much more! The coffee was excellent and I think after the third cup I didn’t even need to drive to LEGOLAND Park! haha.

Sandy’s Castle Restaurant’s dinner menu features Island themed dishes but also food for the little ones.  Mine are picky eaters so that was a plus for us. .

Chef Daniel did a great job of creating the Island theme with my favorite dish Jerk Chicken.  It is marinated in Caribbean spices, then grilled and topped with mango.

It’s is delicious paired with the rice.

There are also meatballs.

And for the people that want to eat light, there is a salad bar.

The dessert was delish.  They had a variety of things like tiramisu, coconut cakes, etc.

If you haven’t noticed, the theme for me is to sit and relax, haha.  This is what I walked away with.  Beach Retreat is exactly that. It has the feel of a retreat in a beach atmosphere.

Check out Palm Tree Traders and get some shopping done before you hit the park.  When staying at the Beach Retreat you get the advantage of getting into the park at 9:30 ahead of the public.

I had an opportunity to sit and talk with Adrien Jones- Divisional Director, Merlin Entertainments and General Manager of LEGOLAND Florida Resort.

He told me that the Beach Retreat took a year to build, and they opened 8 weeks ahead of schedule. Someone must have been reading the instructions!  Everything was carefully planned ahead of time so building Beach Retreat was seamless process.

Go check out the Beach Retreat. It is an experience you will remember.
