Easy Snack Ideas for Kids
May 11, 2021

School is back in person and we are so excited to be changing things up again. We have been together at home for months and it’s been great spending time as a family.  With school going from virtual to in person, we are thinking of new ways to change up snacking. School snacks are different from at home snacks. When at school, my boys love snacks and small packages of things.  They like their food and their snacks separated and portioned. Finding snacks for kids can be challenging sometimes.  Then of course, I have a picky eater.  Lucky me! One of my sons doesn’t like bread at all. If I ask him what he wants for lunch for school he says, “nothing.” It’s hard to work with that. …

DIY Teacher Appreciation Gifts with Rulers
May 11, 2021

I can't believe the school year is over. It's been a whirlwind of a year; none of us will ever forget. The kids started out doing virtual and finally did in person schooling. The teachers have been amazing. They have gone above and beyond. I started substitute teaching and got a first hand glimpse into the life of teaching. It is not easy. But it is especially hard doing it through a pandemic. The teachers put their lives on the line for the sake of teaching kids. Last week was teacher appreciation week, and I wanted to get teacher gifts to them but it will have to wait until the end of the year teacher's gifts. So, I really wanted to make …

Dine in an Igloo at the Hilton Sedona Resort At Bell Rock
May 10, 2021

If you told me a year ago that I would be in Sedona this time this year, I'd say, "of course I will be!" I visit the 'Spiritual Mecca of the Southwest’ often. It's my escape from the hustle and bustle of Phoenix. But if you told me that I would be dining in an igloo, I'd probably laugh. First of all because we live in the desert and second, why? Until I visited Hilton Sedona Resort At Bell Rock, I didn't really understand the concept of dining in an igloo. Sedona’s only full-service spa and an 18-hole golf resort is set amidst the spectacular beauty of the magnificent red rock formations surrounding Sedona. The igloo adds the magical, romantic feeling to the resort. But in fact, …

But I didn't think it would be a whole year before we had parties with friends and family. This year having an inside Birthday party was out of the question because we didn't want to put anyone in …

This is a Sponsored Post for Barnet Dulaney Perkins, however, all opinions are 100% my own.  When I was nine, I got my first pair of prescription eyeglasses.  I probably had vision problems before then. I remember thinking to myself that I was now in the "4 eyes" club. I was teased.  I really did not like wearing glasses and within a couple of years I started using contact lenses, even though I was probably too young for them. As you probably know, there are a couple of steps to cleaning contact lenses. I knew them, but as a young kid I would always forget the second step and end up burning my eye balls. This earned me a few trips to the ER to get my …

There are so many benefits to making origami, like eye hand co-ordination, spatial skills, memory and it also helps with fine motor skills. Origami is the traditional Japanese game of folding elaborately designed paper (origami crafts) into a myriad of shapes, usually plants, animals, and other living things. The best thing about origami is that all you need is an imagination and a piece of paper. Recently, I had a virtual Birthday party for my son, and he taught his friends how to make an origami fortune teller. It was a blast! 8 Travel Hacks for Traveling During a Pandemic
February 3, 2021

After six months of quarantine for the Covid-19 pandemic and now three weeks of being stuck in the house with my husband away, I was about to lose it.  It is so hot in Phoenix and there are only so many indoor summer activities one can do. The boys were aching to go outside and it's too hot to do any back yard activities. Of course, we aren't going on any play dates and we don't have a pool so we decided to take a short road trip to a hotel that had a pool.  Yes, we stayed at a hotel basically to use their pool. Apparently, we are not alone. So, we are thinking of travel hacks for traveling during a pandemic (always …

5 Essentials for Homemade Garbage Disposal Cleaning
February 1, 2021

Who knew at my age I would be learning how to clean my garbage disposal? I started ironing at 45 years-old so I can certainly learn how to clean my drain at 48, right? Unclogging drains, though, is not one of my strong points. I am typically the person that clogged the drain... I was a late bloomer with everything.  Marriage, kids, and now cleaning.  I managed on my own for many years with bleach and Windex.  They were my  best friends. I'm not sure if it was the Greek in me that gave me that idea or Forensic Files, but somehow I knew to use bleach. So, whenever anything went wrong in any of my apartments like toilet clogging or the drain clogging, I'd pour bleach …

Delicious and Decadent Keto Super Bowl Recipes
February 1, 2021

Super Bowl Sunday is approaching and although I am not a huge football fan, I am a huge food fan. The two kind of go together. The 2020 Super Bowl was played at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami, Florida on Sunday, February 2, 2020. The Big Game will featured the AFC Champions and the NFC Champions. This year will be a little different due to Covid. The Kansas City Chiefs will be playing the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. But that doesn't mean our family can't celebrate the Super Bowl 2021 at home together. So, I'm always up for a Super Bowl Party! Game day is fun because it means community and getting together. Everyone is celebrating a game day tradition and it always involves …

Fun Gnome Valentines Printables for the Kids
January 29, 2021

This year I’m making homemade Valentine Gnomes. I fell in love with Scandinavian gnomes and Nordic gnomes while visiting Finland. Gnomes were everywhere. Since visiting Finland, I have become obsessed with Gnomes; Finnish Gnomes and Swedish Gnomes! They are so cute and cuddly and represent a country I fell in love with. These Valentines Gnomes were easy to make, using just a couple items and some socks. The best thing was that they were a no sew caft! I brought some back from the North Pole and realized that here in the U.S they are really popular during Christmas. As I researched more, I realized that there is a whole Gnome community out there and that there is a Gnome for every occasion, including …

How to find Hotels and Family Friendly Destinations in Costa Rica
January 28, 2021

I recently visited Costa Rica and experienced a lot of what the country has to offer using a family focused tour operator. In the past, I may have thought about using my amazing travel expertise and knowledge on where to stay, however, Costa Rica is a country I knew nothing about and bringing my family there without knowing what places would be accessible to us was a little scary.  A "family focused tour operator," specializes in family, so they know what they are talking about. These are all questions we don't often get asked when we travel. Wouldn't it be nice to know that someone has prepared all of that for you in advance?  Costa Rica Family Holidays can do that and so much more so that …

A Staycation at the Wyndham Deerfield Beach Resort
January 28, 2021

We had about three days before we were heading out of Florida.  Florida, my home for the last 24 years was now in the distant past as we were getting ready for a new chapter in our lives in Phoenix, Arizona. I lived in Phoenix once upon a time.  But I "grew up" in Florida.  First Miami Beach, then Midtown, North Miami, Parkland, and finally Deerfield Beach. What better way to start our journey than a staycation!  With all the prepping for the big move, the kids getting out of school, packing, etc., we really needed it.  Who can say no to 33 steps from the beach? When looking for a family friendly hotel to stay in Deerfield Beach, we always consider the location, the room size, parking …

One of the main reasons I like Valentine's Day is for the sweets.  Not the roses, or the romantic dinners, but for the sweets.  I have a major sweet tooth and Valentine's Day is an excuse for me to indulge. It's always fun to make Valentine's Day desserts and treats. I love this time of year because it makes me want to try new, creative treats like cookies, cupcakes and cakes.  The kids absolutely love it too, along with crafts and Valentine boxes for school. Budget Friendly Things to do in Flagstaff, Arizona with the Family
January 23, 2021

Thank you to Wyndham, Flagstaff for hosting us. All opinions are my own. We recently went to Flagstaff, Arizona with the boys.  They were so excited to play in the snow but other than that, we weren't sure what kind of activities we were going to do but we wanted to discover Flagstaff.  Because of the weather, we had to prepare a bit. It's amazing that you can go from wearing a tee shirt in Phoenix to snow boots and winter clothes in just 2 hours. This is a great reason to live in Arizona. The weather in different areas is so versatile. There are so many things to do in Arizona. Just up the road and only 85 miles away …

5 Questions to ask the Conscious Parent
January 21, 2021

Wow, 2020 has been eyeopening for me when it comes to conscious parenting.  I feel like I have been pushed to my limits; from homeschooling to quarantining.  The stress that Covid-19 has put our world under is unfathomable. This pandemic has changed the course of my kid's life. They will forever remember these years as a time of uncertainty, stress and pain. Losing loved ones just escalates it and being cooped up for weeks has been unbearable. I have definitely been unconscious and totally self absorbed. And disciplining the kids have been harder than ever. It has been rough.  If I ever thought I had lost control, the time would be now. Absolutely everything fell apart this year. …

DIY Valentine's Crafts Using Recycled Crayons + Printables

I relate Valentine's Day with getting flowers, usually roses. But flowers are not too realistic for kids to give each other. And I'm not sure they would appreciate it like we do.
