Bringing Back Holiday Traditions with the Fire HD 8 Kids Edition Tablet

It’s the Holiday season, which means Holiday parties, cookie making, wrapping gifts, gift giving and Holiday Traditions.  My kids love Holiday Traditions like picking the chocolate out of the Advent Calendar and finding Christmas pajamas on their bed Christmas morning.  But the one thing they really enjoy is reading Holiday Books and watching Holiday movies.  Every year we enjoy this family tradition and I dig out the books and movies at the bottom of the Holiday box stashed in the garage. We all gather on the couch and read.  The anticipation of the next page or next scene coupled with the excitement of the Holidays brings out the child in me. I love everything about the Holidays!

There’s nothing like curling up with my boys and reading a Holiday book.  It’s been our tradition for years.  Now, we have incorporated the Fire HD 8 Kids Edition tablet, and pick a Holiday book from the huge Freetime library.  If we are really tired, we might use the audible version.  We just downloaded Home Alone and the kids watched it for the first time. Another new tradition!

I love the peace of mind Amazon Freetime gives me with the parental controls. I can manage the settings such as setting time limits, adjusting age filters, enabling/disabling web browser access, and allowing in-app purchasing.  The deal breaker for me is that Amazon Freetime encourages learning before play.

I allow them to watch entertainment content (age appropriate) after they have met their daily goals for educational content.  They also get different amounts of screen time depending on if it is a weekday or a weekend.  I give them unlimited time for reading because you can never have too much reading. The settings allow me to adjust other features like games and apps and make it so much easier for me to regulate the content, including shutting the Fire HD 8 Kids Edition tablet down at a specific time.

I can use the Parent Dashboard to adjust my child’s FreeTime settings remotely. I have the  Fire HD 8 Kids Edition tablet shut down at a certain time of the day.  I may change my mind on any given day so that’s why the Parent Dashboard is helpful. It also helps with interacting with my boys.  They can include me in their stories and games and I can keep tabs on what they are downloading and learning using discussion cards.

Along with our reading traditions, traveling is also a part of our holiday traditions, whether it’s traveling across the U.S. to visit family or driving a few hours away to see the snow.  The Fire HD 8 Kids Edition tablet is perfect because it offers an Offline Mode, which allows me to download content before we leave so we don’t have to depend on Wi-Fi whether we are trapped in a car or plane.  We always have access to books, videos, educational apps, audible books, and games.  It’s a win win!

The Fire HD 8 Kids Edition tablet is available for $129.99, the Fire HD 8 Kids Edition is Amazon’s best-selling kids’ tablet. It features an 8” HD display, quad-core processor, 32 GB of storage with up to 400 GB of expandable storage via a microSD card slot, and up to 10 hours of battery life.

It also has a two Year Worry-Free Guarantee so if my boys break it, I can send it back to Amazon to replace it.  Amazing.

The Fire HD 8 Kids Edition also comes with a one-year subscription to Amazon FreeTime Unlimited.  After the first year, Amazon FreeTime Unlimited starts at just $2.99 per month for Prime members and $4.99 per month for customers who are not yet Prime members.

We love our Holiday traditions, and now they are even more enhanced with the ease of the Fire HD 8 Kids Edition.
