Back to School Prayer (Printables Included)

School starts soon and we are all feeling the tension this time of year after the last two years. As you search your hearts and admit your fears to God, are you also looking for a back to school prayer?

prayer for back to school

Kids are getting ready for the new school year soon. There is excitement in the air and the boys are looking forward to making new friends and meeting new teachers.

As parents, we worry about peer pressure and grades. I know for myself, that we will be tackling some stressful things. For some children, it will be there first time in school and they will be learning new things.

The Awful Start to Summer

As they head out on this new adventure, tensions arise as we remember the poor children and teachers who lost their lives right before the summer break.

It was the day before my boys’ last day of school and we were all excited about the festivities. Emails were going around about secret pizza parties and fun activities to celebrate the summer break.

It had been a rough year. It had been rough for more than two years for everyone. Usually, teachers are pretty tired by the end of the year and the kids get pretty squirrely. But this year was different.

It wasn’t just a new environment for the kids and teachers, they were still exhausted from the craziness of virtual school, no school, and school sometimes until closed. It was just so much and so stressful the previous two years.

This leads me to wonder about their school experience this year, whether it is a public school, private school, charter school, and even homeschooling.

So, How do we go Back to School after This Past Year?

As we get read for this upcoming school season, how do we trust that our kids will be safe?

How do the school administrators feel going back?

Will they make good friends?

Will they stray away from negative influences?

There are some powerful Prayers, like the Serenity Prayer. This is my favorite as it keeps me in the moment.

Serenity Prayer + Printable

God grant me the serenity
to accept the things I cannot change;
courage to change the things I can;
and wisdom to know the difference.
Living one day at a time;
Enjoying one moment at a time;
Accepting hardships as the pathway to peace;
Taking, as He did, this sinful world
as it is, not as I would have it;
Trusting that He will make all things right
if I surrender to His Will;
That I may be reasonably happy in this life
and supremely happy with Him
Forever in the next.
Amen.

Back to School Prayer + Printable

(for any type of student: college students, elementary students, high school students, etc)

Dear God, (Dear Lord, Dear Jesus)

As we send our children back to school, we pray for Your protection and guidance. Keep them safe from harm, both physically and emotionally. Help them to find friends who will support and encourage them. Give them wisdom as they face challenging situations. And help them to always remember that You are with them, no matter what.

We also pray for our teachers and school staff. Give them strength, patience, and knowledge as they work with our kids each day. Help them to be role models of Your love and grace. And bless them with all the resources they need to provide a top-quality education for our children.

Finally, we pray for all the parents out there who are sending their kids back to school. May we find comfort in knowing that You are holding them all in the palm of Your hand. And may we trust that, despite any challenges that come our way, You will always be with us and see us through.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.
