I received a complimentary stay at the Wyndham Resort to facilitate my review, however, all opinions are my own.
We aren’t too fussy about the hotels that we stay at but we do have some standards, especially since we are traveling with two kids under the age of five. We don’t need luxury, per se, because the kids can’t appreciate it, but we do need specific things that people without kids might not consider.
When we checked into the Wyndham Lake Buena Vista Disney Springs™ Hotel, we knew that it had gone under major renovations. I knew that it was now two hotels but I didn’t have anything to compare it to because we had never stayed there. The first impression is huge with me and when I walked into the lobby, I knew it was going to be a great stay.
The decor exudes comfort and class with comfy couches and chairs to lounge around on. Beautiful fixtures and lighting put out a warm vibe along with an inviting staircase that leads to the Lakeview Restaurant. I was greeted with a smile when I checked in and the staff was upbeat and always helpful.
There are many reasons why Wyndham Lake Buena Vista Disney Springs™ Hotel suited us so well but there are five reasons that sealed the deal.
This hotel is unique in that it is really considered two hotels in one. The two Wyndham properties are Official Walt Disney World Hotels, located in the Walt Disney World Resort. There is the upscale side, for what I would call the “Honeymooners” or the world travelers, and then there is the Wyndham Garden Lake Buena Vista Disney Springs™ Hotel, which is for the more value minded traveler, and perfect for families.
The Wyndham Lake Buena Vista Disney Springs™ Hotel is a 19-story Skyview Tower which features 232 guest rooms. I love the Lakehouse theme throughout the hotel and the rooms are furnished with Restoration Hardware.
We stayed in the Wyndham Garden Lake Buena Vista Disney Springs™ Hotel and found it to be very comfortable. One of the main things we needed was a refrigerator and the one they had in the room was very large. We were able to store three days worth of water and snacks, perfect for the parks! We had a courtyard view overlooking the pool. The room was spacious, and the closet was equipped with an ironing board and iron. Everything was very clean and there were plenty of drawers. Next to the window was a table that could seat two people comfortably. This is where my kids ate dinner while I worked on my computer. We were very happy with the room. Even with two boys under five-years-old, there was plenty of space for everyone to move around.
Not everyone wants to dine in the Hotel they’re staying at, but it’s good to know that if you get room service or just want a cup of coffee and a pastry for breakfast, that it is available, and in this case, available 24/7.
Joffrey’s is my new Starbucks and it’s everywhere in Disney Springs™ including the Wyndham’s “Sundial”, located in the lobby. They are open 24/7 for on the go snacks and food, amazing pastries, and ridiculous donuts.
The Lakeview Restaurant offers a buffet breakfast and features a Disney Character Breakfast with Goofy and Pluto on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. We had the buffet and I especially liked the fresh fruit and nuts to add to my pancakes. The kids loved the Mickey Mouse waffles and the wait staff was exceptional, always making sure I had enough coffee.
More amenities include a 24/7 fitness center, a Disney Store with discount theme park tickets available, lighted tennis courts, volleyball court, basketball court, valet, Dollar Car Rental, and my kid’s favorite two: the arcade and Oasis Aquatic Pool Playground. There is also a pool , a whirlpool, and the Oasis Bar & Grill poolside.
3. Location! Location! Location!
Our number one priority was making sure we were within walking distance from Disney Springs™. In the last year Disney Springs™ has undergone some major renovations, including making a bridge from the hotel that leads you directly to Downtown Disney’s doorstep.
In the past, one had to cross the street, and that intersection is very very busy, so this is a great improvement. The Wyndham Lake Buena Vista Disney Springs™ Hotel is now the closest hotel to Disney Springs™.
We are big fans of Downtown Disney so that makes us very happy. We enjoyed all the new shops and renovations this year. What a difference!
Speaking of location, there is continuous shuttle service to the theme parks. We only waited ten minutes for a bus to Magic Kingdom.
4. The Reading Lounge
This is by far one of my favorite spots in the hotel, along with my kids’. I didn’t have to tear my kids away from the Disney Store because they were too busy reading in The Reading Lounge. This is every parent’s dream.
5. A Service That Drops Off Your Luggage At The Airport
A company called Bags offers a service where you can check your luggage straight onto the airline from the lobby from 7am to 12pm. This is a great service for those who still want to explore Orlando but don’t want to haul around their luggage on their last day. The luggage has to be dropped off a minimum of 3 hours before your flight and works with the following carriers: Alaska Airlines, Delta, AA, JetBlue, Southwest, and United.
6. Certified Green Hotel
Wyndham Lake Buena Vista Disney Springs™ Hotel is a certified green hotel. What does that mean? It means that the Wyndham Hotel Group is committed to improving the health and sustainability of our planet with “green” – or ecofriendly – hotels and resorts. To help reduce the daily use of water, energy and detergents, they change your sheets every three days, and at checkout. Just look for the Leaf Symbol (the shower curtain is where I first noticed it). You can find a list of their ecofriendly hotels here.
We really enjoyed our stay there and plan on going back. This will be our “go to” Hotel in the future and the rates are so affordable we might stay on the upscale side! Woohoo!
