Play and Stay at LEGOLAND® Beach Retreat Now Open!
April 11, 2017

The much-anticipated Beach Retreat is now open.  We counted the days until getting to preview this beachtastic retreat.  The anticipation built up with just the word "Beach."  I thought, how could it possibly be a retreat when I'm bringing the kids? haha.  But they did it!  It is absolutely a retreat. Just the drive-through experience sets the ambiance for a retreat theme by not having the hustle and bustle of lobby check in.  Although, I like a little hustle and bustle, but after driving with a three-year-old and five-year-old boys for three and a half hours, I'd say the drive-through was the perfect alternative to lobby check in.  We had no time for chit-chat. This village-style vacation resort features brightly colored bungalows that look like they were …

Get to the Museum of Discovery and Science for Spring Break!
April 10, 2017

My two boys are very active.   If they weren't I might worry.  But they cannot sit still.  They feed off each other's energy.  They are inseparable.  However, boredom makes them fight.  So, we are always looking for new things to do, especially educational things. We were looking for things to do on Spring Break last week and we came across the Museum of Discovery and Science in Fort Lauderdale. It is one of the largest and busiest museums of its kind in Florida. The museum features its own AutoNation IMAX theater, and shows 3-D IMAX films in which viewers wear special glasses and headsets. The museum also features a number of "ecoscapes", as well as a simulated ride to Mars, a simulated airboat ride in the …

Disney On Ice South Florida Brings In Disney-Pixar’s Cars!
April 1, 2017

We had a blast at the opening night of Disney On Ice South Florida.  This year's theme is the Worlds of Enchantment, and this "live on ice" show is action-packed with the characters from Disney-Pixar’s Cars, Toy Story 3, Disney’s The Little Mermaid, and Frozen! The kids were so excited.  They couldn't wait to see Lightning McQueen and Mater. We started off with the VIP party, and the kids got revved up for the show at the craft table coloring Lightning McQueen Tow Mater coloring sheets. We had some popcorn, took some pictures and made some new friends! The best part of the VIP experience is that you get to meet Mickey and Minnie before the show.  It's always a pleasure to meet the official mascot and detective from …

The 25th Anniversary of the Florida Renaissance Festival
March 14, 2017

I attended my first Renaissance Festival when I was nineteen-years-old.  It's something you don't forget.  My friends and I would go and buy crystals, throw pixie dust and flirt with the long-haired boys. Back then, I would have never have dreamt that I would be bringing my children to the very same festival.  Now they are celebrating their The 25th Anniversary! I remember experiencing it for the first time, just as they did this past weekend, and it is an experience to remember for sure!  The 16th Century costumes and clothing, fairy dust, turkey legs, and fabulous jewelry are still there today.   Days later, my kids are still talking about it, from the flying marshmallows when we came in to the high wire pirate show, and the funnel …

Chinese Lantern Festival Just Came to Boca Raton!
February 28, 2017

This weekend was the opening weekend of the Chinese Lantern Festival.  I had no idea what to expect as this was my first experience seeing Chinese Lanterns  but I did know that the lighting of the lanterns is considered an art and an integral part of festivals and celebrations in China.  There was so much more and something for everyone. The 2017 festival lanterns  highlight "The Wild," including lanterns in the form of animals from around the world, including; Africa, Antarctica, Asia, America and more. We got to  experience authentic Chinese entertainment and multicultural shows. Of course, if there was the Age of Dinosaurs at Dinosaur Empire, my kids were in on the event!  I just had to mention dinosaurs. As soon as we parked, we saw …

5 Things I Didn't Know About Santeria
February 1, 2017

I had the opportunity to travel to Cuba through Fathom.org a few months ago, and it was amazing!  I've always loved the Cuban lifestyle, specifically the food, haha!  I lived in Miami Beach for ten years and got to know the culture and made many Cuban friends.  I quickly learned their language in Spanglish so I could sell cosmetics to the shoppers at Downtown Macy's.  I drank coladas daily and enjoyed the amazing cuisine at David’s on Miami Beach, which closed after many years.   Because I got to know Cuban people so well living in Miami, I quickly learned that most them were very religious. I never really asked my friends but noticed that many were praying to what I thought were saints.  Sometimes they …

5 Reasons to Visit PLAYMOBIL® FunPark Palm Beach
January 17, 2017

I heard panic in my husbands voice when he received an email from school that we had another holiday coming up and that the kids were not going to be in  school.  He works.  I don't know why he's panicking, lol. Maybe it's because he might get a text from me around four o:clock asking when he's coming home.  It might also be an interesting (and by interesting, I don't mean good)  text depending on my hormonal status and if the kids are behaving.  I've told him many times not to text me and ask me how my day is going.  He might regret it. But on a day that both kids are home and for our sanity, they need to get outside.  They don't do well …

8 Ways to Get the Most Out of One Day in LEGOLAND Florida
December 18, 2016

It was our first time going to LEGOLAND Florida and we only had one day as we were also heading to other theme parks and were packing everything into one long weekend!  I had heard a lot about what to expect, so when I got there I thought I was prepared. But nothing can prepare you for this Lego wonderland.  It is a Lego lover's dream! If you haven't experienced anything Lego, you are about to get your socks knocked off!  My kids were in heaven. So we had to have a plan on what to pack in one day. They have an awesome water park but it was closed on the day we went, which was good in a way because we wouldn't have had time to truly …

How to do CityWalk™ and Universal Orlando™ in One Day
November 29, 2016

We knew Universal Orlando Resort.™ was going to be a long day for us considering we had two theme parks and Citywalk™ to check out.  With two boys under five-years-old, we had to have a plan.  We took into consideration a few things: First, it was October and they were having Halloween Horror Nights. Both boys  do not like big, animated characters walking around, especially if they are scary.  So, we knew that we were not going to be participating in that.  Because Universal Studios would be closing early for Halloween Horror Nights, we decided to do that theme park first. We also had to consider where we wanted to eat because we wanted to experience a restaurant in Citywalk™ but knew the kids would be too tired …

4 Reasons to Visit the BOATHOUSE® in Disney Springs.™
November 16, 2016

I received a complimentary dining experience to facilitate this article.  All opinions are my own. We are the typical Florida family who likes to frequent the theme parks at least once a year.  But we have requirements for ourselves too.  It's not all about the kids as this trip is an escape from our busy lives also. We always stay close to Disney Springs™ to have access to it whenever we want.  In the last year, they have made some major renovations which gives us even more reason to visit! One of the things we enjoy the most when visiting Disney Springs™ is discovering restaurants. We found one that blew us away and have made it our number one priority to visit every time we go to Disney …

5 Things to do to Prepare for a Road Trip
November 10, 2016

We had been planning this trip to Orlando for months.  We were so excited!  We bought a new car a few months ago with the idea of going on road trips, so it had to be big.  With two boys, ages two and five, the future is filled with all kinds of adventures, and those adventures require a lot of room! I've always been a last minute kind of gal, thriving on the pressure of getting stuff done when I'm backed into a corner. The thing is that we had never been on a road trip until then.  Yes, we went to Orlando, but it doesn't feel like a road trip when you're crammed into a small SUV with barely any space for water and strollers. This time was …

Conversations With a Fathom Traveler
November 8, 2016

I was given complimentary tickets for this cruise to facilitate this article. All opinions are my own.   Cruises are the best place to meet new people. There is such a variety of personalities that you are sure to hit it off with someone on the ship. And it helps that everyone's in a good mood because they're on vacation. This being my second Fathom Cruise, I was a little more aware of the people around me and not just the beautiful ship, The Adonia. As I went on guided tours and traveled on the buses I sat next to a lot of people. There was one gentleman that spiked my curiosity. He was snapping away with his camera. Every time I saw him he was taking pictures. …

6 Reasons to Stay at Wyndham Lake Buena Vista Disney Springs™ Resort Area
November 2, 2016

We aren't too fussy about the hotels that we stay at but we do have some standards, especially since we are traveling with two kids under the age of five.   We don't need luxury, per se, because the kids can't appreciate it, but we do need specific things that people without kids might not consider. When we checked into the Wyndham Lake Buena Vista Disney Springs™ Hotel, we knew that it had gone under major renovations. I knew that it was now two hotels but I didn't have anything to compare it to because we had never stayed there.  The first impression is huge with me and when I walked into the lobby, I knew it was going to be a great stay.     The decor exudes …

5 Reasons Why Impact Travel Changed My Life
August 11, 2016

When I went on the Fathom cruise, I expected to be involved in something different; something that would change the way I viewed the world.  I have been blessed to have been able to travel quite a bit in my life, and I love traveling.  Growing up with family in Europe and modeling afforded me that. Twenty years ago, I went to the Dominican Republic.  I was working as a model in Miami Beach and got a job to be involved in a commercial that would be filmed there. It was all very glamorous, being flown there with a bunch of young models, and then driven to a luxury resort where we would stay for about five days to shoot the video.  I was twenty-five and …

Everglades Holiday Park
August 2, 2016

Living in Florida for twenty years, you'd think I would have seen an alligator by now, but no, I haven't and neither has my family.  So we were excited to go to Everglades Holiday Park and check out the gators!  Plus, it is home to the to the Gator Boys Alligator Rescue, featured on Animal Planet's hit show. We went there on a Sunday morning and picked up our tickets for the AirBoat Tour.  It was just a few minutes until they called our number and we walked down to the port where the boats are waiting for us.  The tour boats depart every twenty minutes so you don't get stuck standing out in the heat for long. Before we stepped on the boat, we had our free …

Confessions Of A Tourist In Puerto Plata
July 28, 2016

Have you ever gotten yourself into a situation and thought, "how did this happen?" I have a past life as a model and bartender so um...ya.  No one needs to know the war stories, but yes, I got myself into some sticky situations.  And it was usually too late to get myself out of them! So fast forward twenty five years and now I am a wife and a mother to two boys. I have to say that the wildest Friday night I have had recently was going to an "All You Can Eat" sushi restaurant, not just with my husband but with his gym buddy.  We were home before ten p.m. to catch Dateline (don't watch it alone). But I recently went on a trip that would change …

My First 48 Hours On Fathom
June 20, 2016

This was the second cruise I had ever been on.  I was excited to try something new, especially the impact activities.  I am not one to hang out on "Booze Cruises" so I was happy with this new concept. I had heard that the Adonia was a British ship but didn't really realize what it meant until I got on board.  The first words on the intercom were in a British accent. It's always nice to hear the accent as I was born in Britain and have a British mother.  The only thing I had read was that there was plenty of tea on the ship.  As a coffee drinker, that made me nervous.   Turns out coffee was plentiful, however, there was no Starbucks on the …
