My Review

The reason why I have shied away from Herbal Medicine is because there seems to be overwhelming information out there and it’s just too much to comprehend.  Information overload.  But what I like about this book is that it starts out very simple explaining the history of herbal medicine and it’s purposes and what it’s like today.  It starts out slowly giving you reasons on why one would want to use herbal medicine.  It teaches you how to buy, make, and grow herbal medicine.  You get a simple list of healing herbs and a list of herbal remedies for common ailments, in addition to remedies for skin and beauty such as acne and psoriasis.   I love when the author states that,” herbal medicine is not about rejecting sound scientific face, no is it about conjuring mystical spirits to cure diseases…instead, herbal medicine is about using safe, evidence-based alternatives to treat the same ailments that have plagued humankind for millenia.”  Basically, people can be fooled.  You have to educated yourself.  I think the mistake a lot of people make with decisions on using herbal medicine is thinking that it is all or nothing but this book clearly states that there are times when it is necessary to use modern medicine.  I enjoyed this book and would recommend it to my friends an family and will also use it as a reference from now on.  I feel empowered in the idea of using herbal medicine.
