Summer vacation is about playing outside and discovering new things. But here in Florida, the rain keeps us inside a lot. We can run out of things to do.
Summer also means going on road trips but the kids can get bored stuck in the car for hours at a time. This is where apps come in handy. Instead of being glued on the T.V., they like to play educational games that stimulate their minds. We don’t watch movies in the car. They have enough of that in the house with Netflix.
If you watch Netflix, you have heard of Noddy Toyland Detective. If you’re like me, and grew up in England, you’ll remember the T.V. show on BBC. Recently, Kuato teamed up with Dreamworks Animation to recreate Noddy Toyland Detective from Netflix into an app.
My two boys, ages three and five years-old, have been playing with the app for days. They both have very different personalities and they were apparent while playing the app.
My five-year-old really enjoyed the puzzles as they were more complicated than the standard puzzle app. They were more challenging for him. My three-year-old really enjoyed navigating the car with his fingers (using the ‘Who, What, Where Book’ to solve mysteries) and going through all the different adventures. Then they get to read about them in a story book at the end when the clues are solved.
It kept them engaged and there were lot of options in the app, there wasn’t just one thing to do. As a parent, I know how kids get bored. It’s nice that it can both parent and child can play it together. My boys need stimulation and Noddy Toyland Detective facilitates that.
