How to Make Candles with Essential OilsThis is a Sponsored Post for Goddess Garden, however, all opinions are my own.

This past Holiday, my friend and I decided to get creative and make DIY, homemade candles as gifts for people.  It was such a rewarding experience to hand make candles for people we love, with our own mixes of Aromatherapy Essential Oil Blends.

Fragrance is pretty personal but when mixing essential oils, you can use different premade aromatherapy blends or individual essential oils.

Goddess Garden has their own aromatherapy blends that I use for candles, sprays, and Aromatherapy Lava Bracelets.

One of my favorite scents is Happy Day.   It’s a happiness-boosting essential oil blend, featuring certified-organic citrus oils like bergamot and grapefruit.  Aromatherapy positively affects mood and alertness and can have many uses.

How do Aromatherapy Bracelets and Blends work? As you can see in the image above, there are lava rocks that are porous, so when you dab on the essential oils, they pool in the crevasses and release a scent as you move.

The Essential Oil Bracelet Blends are made specifically for the aromatherapy bracelets because they are higher in concentration.  They are not meant to be used directly on the skin, but have worked well with my candles.  The symbolic charms help to visualize your intentions.

It’s pretty simple really.  You just need a few items: soy candle wax, wicks, wax adhesive, and essential oil blends. I find old glass candle holders at thrift shops or Michael’s. You can even repurpose old was that your not using at home.  Just scrape it out and reheat it in the microwave.

You can buy the candle wax at Michael’s and use a coupon to save money.  That is the most expensive part of making them.  But you can get it at a great price with the 50% off coupon. If you heat it up in the microwave, I suggest doing it at 30 seconds at a time.

You can also get long wicks and cut them in half to have more.  You place the wick at the bottom of the candle with the tacky stuff before pouring the wax.

Get some chopsticks to keep the wick upright while pouring the hot wax in.  I then added the essential oil blend.  I added about 10 drops but to make it more fragrant, you can add more and play around with it.  The first candle is always an experiment.

In these one’s I placed dried flowers in them, but I let the wax harden a little and push the flowers down with the chopsticks otherwise they will float to the top.
