Give the Gift of Sleep for Mother’s Day
Blog - May 10, 2017

When I was a kid, I never wanted to sleep.  There was too much to do or see out there.  My mom would say, “I’ve got things to do, places to go, and people to see!” I didn’t want to waste a second.

When I was in my 20’s I lived in Miami Beach and stayed up all hours of the night partying and having a good time.

Oh, how times have changed.

Now, a mommy of two very active boys, I rarely get a full night’s sleep.  But it’s not out of choice. When I do have an opportunity to sleep well, my mind is racing and I can’t fall asleep.

For instance, last night my son woke up to use the bathroom and he needed help.  Somehow, he ended up in our bed.  He was warm and we took his temperature and even though he was fine I wanted to make sure he was okay since he had a fever two days prior.

Then he started breathing fast and I got worried.  I tossed and turned listening to him, checking him and he was fine.  Then at six am he was up, “Mommy, it’s morning! Wake up!”

I was so exhausted from dealing with him the previous nights also, I had to let my husband take over.  None of us slept well this past weekend.

We were up all hours of the night with the kids.  It’s hard to sleep well when it’s always being interrupted or you’re not getting enough.

I try to meditate to put myself to sleep with Apps and guided meditations.  But I still don’t feel rested.

So, I tried the Sleep Easily Treatment.  I was skeptical because it isn’t hypnosis or guided meditations. It’s an audio device that you put by your pillow.  It is supposed to guide your through five physical triggers that will get you to sleep in about 20 minutes.  And…….it did.

The Sleep Easily Treatment was created by Dr. Richard Shane, Ph.D., who has been a psychotherapist since 1977. He is the Behavioral Sleep Consultant for New West Physicians, Colorado.  For more than 25 years, Dr. Shane has helped thousands of insomnia patients sleep better and is a member of American Academy of Sleep Medicine, the Society for Behavior Sleep Medicine, and Nation Sleep Foundation.

Although, I did not care for the woman’s or the man’s voice on the device,  it did the job.  I was asleep within 10 minutes.  I’ve been using it ever since.

The set also includes 4 recordings, eyeshades, earplugs, and sleep book.  I have not had time to read the sleep book and I don’t like earplugs.  I have tried them often.  But some find them helpful.

You can buy Sleep Easily Insomnia Treatment on Amazon or on their site HERE.

I need my sleep, mother or not.  We all need and deserve rest.  What do you do to sleep well?
