How to Make A Holiday Chocolate Mint Coffee
December 19, 2016

I received this product complimentary for testing purposes. I don't always drink Chocolate Mint flavored coffee...but when I do, you can bet it will be Java Factory's Holiday Season Java Nagila. I am an avid coffee drinker.  Flavored coffee is not my favorite but occasionally I will have a cup.  Since it's the Holidays I am a lot more open to sweet flavored drinks too.   Throw in some melted chocolate, candy canes, marshmallows, chocolate syrup and whipped cream. Now you've twisted my arm. If your wondering if this is a coffee served only for the Holidays, the answer is no.  However, it certainly goes with the Holiday spirit, doesn't it? Here's how to make it. [amd-yrecipe-recipe:3] Java Factory Chocolate Mint Flavored Coffee is part of the Holiday Season Single Serve …

Nana's Snowball Cookies
December 9, 2016

Every single Christmas, since I can remember, my mother made these snowballs.  She made them for her friends, people at church, coworkers, and of course, us.  They were such a big hit, people still talk about them.  I always thought that they were complicated to make because they are so delicious.  So I never asked for the recipe.  Plus, I knew she was going to make them, haha. Now, 30+ years later, if you asked my mother if she thought she would be baking her Snowballs for grand kids, she would fall over. It just wasn't in the cards. It wasn't really even discussed when I got married.  But then the big 40 hit me and I wondered if there was more to life than a dog on …

Pumpkin Spiced Cookies That Are Good For You?
November 19, 2016

I received product to facilitate this article.  All opinions are mine. Tis' the season of everything pumpkin!  Everywhere I look, I am bombarded with pumpkin flavored bread, sweets, coffees, and desserts. I love cookies and sweets.  This time of year is definitely the hardest for me when it comes to excising self control.  But being on the Smart For Life program has taught me that it's all about smart decisions.  I try to stick as close to my diet as possible knowing that a cupcake doesn't taste as good as I feel when I'm on track.  But I do need to indulge! If you like pumpkin, satisfy your cravings with organic, all natural, gluten free Smart For Life Pumpkin Spiced Cookies.   They are preservative-free, and have 60% organic …

How to Get Your Kids To Eat Healthy Snacks
November 14, 2016

I received this item for free in exchange for my opinion.  All opinions are mine.  I don't know how many times I have purchased snacks for the kids only to have them try one and throw the rest away.  When it's someone else's snacks though, it’s a different story, so I buy it, they eat one and then they don't like it anymore.  It's an endless battle!       It's also not cheap, especially if you are buying healthy snacks.  But I found a way around that!  It's called GREAT Snack Box.       What's awesome is that if my kids do fall in love with something, I can go back to their site and find it and purchase it in bulk.     Kids like choices. They like crunchy stuff, sweet stuff, salt …

How to Spice Up an Egg White Omelette
November 11, 2016

Eating healthy is a choice, and since I've changed my habits, I've benefited from it.   But let's face it, you must get creative. I eat an egg white omelet almost every day.  It's full of protein and added veggies and it's filling.  But it can get boring and reaching for the salt is my downfall. Since being on the Smart for Life diet, I have learned how dangerous salt can be for your body.  Using spices and other means of flavoring can take the place of salt and add such a difference to a dish. This is one of those recipes.  Feel free to modify.  Sometimes I add ham, sometimes peppers.  There are so many options when making an egg white omelet. But the point is to keep on …

Brooklyn Bean Roastery Black and White Cookie Flavored Coffee
October 27, 2016

I received this product for free in exchange for my honest opinion. All opinions are my own, I have also included an affiliate link on this post, which means if you click on the product link and purchase the item I will receive a commission. I'm not a huge fan of flavored coffee, but once in a while I enjoy a cup of hazelnut or french vanilla flavored coffee.  I wasn't sure how I would feel about Brooklyn Bean Roastery Black and White Cookie flavored coffee.  I like a dark, hearty coffee, like the Brooklyn Bean Roastery Fuhgeddaboutit.  I am not into the very popular Pumpkin Spice flavored coffees for fall, so I'd rather try a Limited Edition Fall Seasonal Flavor like Brooklyn Bean Roastery Black …

How to Make Whole Wheat Almond Butter Pancakes
October 25, 2016

Sometimes my kids want pancakes for dinner.  I try not to limit them too much with food.  I prefer that they eat a healthy dinner but I also want to be flexible and let them have a say too.  So I figured out a way to make healthier pancakes.  Yes, they still have sugar.  But they are still healthier than the average pancake.  Whole wheat flour is more dense that white flour so these pancakes are more filling. I managed to sneak some protein in there too, lol, using Trader Joe's Creamy Almond Butter. It took about ten minutes to make and I let them participate. [amd-yrecipe-recipe:4] Done!  Add honey instead of syrup.

How To Make Rainbow Pretzel Goody Bags With 3 Ingredients
September 30, 2016

Fifth Birthdays are a big deal around here.  We are going to LEGOLAND and Disney.  My mother flew out for the big day also.  So you can imagine how important it was to my son, Henri. But the first celebration starts at school.  We had cupcakes and goodie bags.  However, I really don't like putting candy in goody bags.  Kids are so used to getting candy and I wanted to do something different.  Being  the over ambitious mother that I am, I thought I would do two goody bags.  I made one with left over toys from previous parties and one with rainbow pretzels.     You have to think quick when you have a small class of mostly girls.  At the same time you want to please the …

Brooklyn Beans Fuhgeddaboutit Coffee Single-cup coffee for Keurig K-Cup Brewers
September 19, 2016

I am a coffee fanatic and love all kinds of coffee but in the morning I need coffee with a kick.  I have two and four-year old boys and I need to get going at six am!  I can't do anything without my first cup of coffee.  I mean, don't talk to me, you'll get the hand. The first coffee of the day is the most important.  If it doesn't get me going and satisfy me then I'm trying to catch up all day.  My second cup is usually medium or mild roast and then by four I'm ready for a kicker again. If you want a kicker, like me....a coffee that's likely to put hairs on your chest (according to my mom) then fuhgeddaboudit! Just so you …

Brooklyn Bean Roastery
September 11, 2016

I love my Keurig.  I mean I really really love it. I drink about three cups of coffee a day.  Sometimes four!  When you have two boys under the age of four, coffee becomes your best friend. I like all types of coffee, but I prefer caffeinated.  Sometimes I'll spike it with decaf because I know I've had my limit.  One flavor that I like sometimes is hazelnut.  I like nutty flavors so I enjoyed the Brooklyn Bean Roastery Hazelnut flavor.  It is not a very strong coffee and the nuttiness gives it a little sweetness.  I would probably choose it as my second or third cup of coffee for the day. Brookly Bean Roastery Hazelnut is 100% Arabica coffee with their lightning fast "Roast2Cup" packaging process.  …

"MyPlate" Pizza Date
August 21, 2016

This is a sponsored post created in partnership with Fresh Baby but the content and opinions expressed here are my own. This post contains affiliate links.   I had to discuss making a pizza with my son Henri.  Yes, it was a full on discussion. With a four year old. He can be a difficult eater and it only takes one thing or one word to put him off food.   So I had to tread lightly. There are so many reasons why he or any other four year old might not eat his food such as;  it has the wrong color, it's "smooshy," it's furry, it's slippery, it's smells, and lastly, my favorite "I just don't like it," even though he's never tried it. But what kid doesn't like …

McDonald's is Making Healthy Changes to Their Menu!
August 17, 2016

This is a sponsored post, however, all opinions are mine. I am so excited about the changes on the McDonald's menu! Specifically, the chicken McNuggets.  Did I mention that they are delicious? Now, I can feel confident that my kids are eating 100% white meat and no artificial preservatives, colors or flavors. They have modified the salads too, replacing iceberg lettuce with fresh romaine, and adding baby spinach and baby kale. Promo Us mamas know that our children's health is our number one concern. That's why we pay such close attention to what we feed them. Sometimes after a long day, we need a quick meal, but we also don't want to feed our children foods that contain harmful and artificial ingredients. We recently had a chance to sit down with …

#PSBackToSchool
August 6, 2016

I've always been concerned with what my kids eat. It started early when they began eating baby food.  We made  such a big deal the first time we gave them something, waiting for their expressions to see if they liked it or not.  Their expressions are priceless!   Usually, applesauce is the biggest hit.  But they also need veggies too!  I liked to mix them so they got the best of both. I made my own purees and froze them; but it's messy, and time consuming.  So I would often just grab food pouches at the store for convenience.  The problem with these pouches is that they are often highly processed, even the organic ones. This is why Pure Spoon, a mom-owned start-up from Austin Texas, is …

Lucky Bars
July 24, 2016

I bet if I asked you if your child was a picky eater, 90% of you would say yes.  My kids will eat anything that is snacks.  So broccoli becomes a snack.  Chicken nuggets become snacks.  God forbid my sons eat a full meal!  Yes, it's called lunch and dinner.  But they just don't get it.  So they snack a lot and of course one of their favorite snacks is my precious Smart For Life cookies!   You can take my Starbucks away for a few days, but don't take away my Smart For Life cookies! So when we discovered the Lucky Bars, my picky eaters/ kids were thrilled!  They have as much protein as two eggs and are so tasty the kids have to hide them …

Why Acai-Pomegranate Appetite Suppressing Concentrate Drops Will Help You Drink More Water
July 10, 2016

Most people I know complain about not drinking enough water.  A lot of my friends drink soda.  I drink a lot of coffee which is a diuretic and dehydrates the body.  All more of a reason to drink more water.  There are so many reasons that drinking water is good for your health. When I went on the Smart For Life diet I was told that I had to drink water.  That it was key to losing weight and boy were they right!  When I didn't drink enough water I was bloated and lethargic.  Water cleans out your system, pushes everything out.  It hydrates the body and flushes out toxins.  It's really important to drink water.  But sometimes knowing that isn't enough for me to do …

How To Make Litehouse Blue Cheese Buffalo Chicken Naan Flatbread
July 9, 2016

This review and giveaway was made possible by iConnect Influencer Management and Litehouse Foods. I was compensated for my participation in this campaign, but all opinions are 100% mine. There are times when I allow myself a bit of decadence.  The Fourth of July counts as one of those times.  After all, we are celebrating something huge, aren’t we?  But for this foodie, decadence still needs to be fresh.  That includes fresh tasting, refrigerated dressings.  You won't find room temperature dressings on my picnic table! Blue cheese is always in my "decadent" recipes.  From blue cheese, pecan, cranberry salads to using it as dipping sauce for a slice of pizza, we can't deny that it adds so much flavor!  Buffalo chicken wings are also a popular item …

Summer Sizzlin' With Tessemae's
July 4, 2016

This is a sponsored post. I am being compensated by Tessemae’s for my participation in this campaign as part of the Mom It Forward Blogger Network. I love a good lettuce wrap!  They are so fresh and fun to eat for the summer.  Here in Florida it's a nice treat on a hot day, and it's healthy!  Just grab a head of iceberg lettuce (or a lettuce with some nutritional value) and add your favorite protein (I do lean turkey), chopped scallions, shredded carrots, sliced sweet peppers, and avocado (don't worry about the proportions on these).  The best part of eating lettuce wraps is the dressings... Condiments are typically not always healthy.  In fact, they can be so unhealthy, packed with salt, sugar, preservatives, and  high fructose …

Rumiano Family Organic Cheese
April 6, 2016

This is a Sponsored Post.  However, all opinions are mine. Who doesn't like cheese?  I grew up on the real thing.  And by "real thing" I don't mean the processed stuff that we see today being sold in supermarkets.  That's right.  My father had a farm in Greece that family lived on and they would bring us real, fresh, feta cheese.  How lucky was I?  Then we moved and my fresh feta cheese eating days were over. I didn't grow up on organic cheese.  Buying organic was never in the budget.  But lately, depending on how you shop, you can find a lot of reasonably priced organic products.  And now that I have children it's even more important to watch what we eat. Depending on what day …
